Coach to Sell

Thinking about selling your business one day, but not ready yet?

You don't need to wait until you've decided to sell before you start preparing for it.

Coach to Sell helps you understand what your business could realistically be worth, how saleable it is today and what you can work on now to put yourself in a stronger position when the time is right.

3 month programme. Led personally by Gavin Page.

"Buyer. Business owner. Adviser."

A few years away

You might be a few years away from selling

Maybe retirement is somewhere on the horizon.

Maybe running the business isn't quite as enjoyable as it once was.

Or perhaps you simply want to know that when you eventually decide you've had enough, the business you've spent years building is actually ready to sell.

You don't need to make that decision today.

But there are things you can start doing today that could make a considerable difference when the time eventually comes.

Value and saleability

A valuable business isn't always a saleable business

A valuation tells you what the numbers suggest.

A buyer will look much further than that.

  • How dependent is the business on you?
  • How much revenue comes from your biggest customers?
  • Are profits consistent?
  • Is there a management team that can run the business without you?
  • Are important customer and supplier relationships properly documented?
  • What would happen if you disappeared for three months?

Coach to Sell helps you look at the business through the eyes of a future buyer and identify the things worth working on while you've still got time to change them.

The programme

What we'll work on

Every business is different, so the programme is shaped around you and the business you've built.

Your exit

What do you actually want from a future sale, financially and personally, and when might you want it?

Value

What could the business realistically be worth and what is driving that value?

Saleability

What could make a future buyer more or less comfortable acquiring the business?

Owner dependence

What still relies heavily on you, and what could be transferred to other people, systems or processes?

The numbers

Do the financials properly reflect the underlying performance of the business and will a future buyer be able to understand them?

Customers and people

We'll look at areas such as customer concentration, recurring revenue, management strength and important relationships.

Getting ready

We'll identify and prioritise the things worth improving before you eventually go to market.

Three months

Three months focused on getting you ready

Coach to Sell is a focused three month programme led personally by Gavin.

Starting point

We begin with a 90 minute deep dive into you, the business, your objectives and what you think a future exit might look like.

Fortnightly sessions

We'll then meet for 60 minutes every two weeks to work through the areas that matter most to your future value and saleability.

Between sessions

You'll be able to send Gavin reasonable questions and information by email or WhatsApp between sessions.

Your exit plan

At the end of the programme, we'll bring the important findings together into your Coach to Sell Exit Plan.

The purpose isn't to produce a huge consultant's report.

It's to give you a clear view of where you are now, what could affect value or saleability, what is worth changing and what you should do next.

Why Gavin

I've been on the other side of the table

Before founding Transition 360 Partners, Gavin built and ran his own group of businesses, completing nine acquisitions as part of its growth.

He's experienced transactions as a buyer, business owner and adviser.

That means when Gavin looks at your business with you, he isn't simply looking at a set of accounts.

He's looking at the things he'd want to understand if he were considering buying the business himself.

Buyer. Business owner. Adviser.

Not a sales process

This isn't about persuading you to sell

Coach to Sell isn't a disguised sales process for putting your business on the market.

If you're two or three years away from selling, that's fine.

If there are things worth fixing first, we'll identify them.

And if you eventually decide you don't want to sell at all, that's your decision.

The purpose is to help you understand your position and make the business stronger, so that if and when you do decide to sell, you're better prepared.

Price

Clear fees from the start

£1,500 + VAT per month

3 month initial programme
£4,500 + VAT total

There are no hidden programme fees.

If you subsequently decide you're ready to sell and appoint Transition 360 Partners to handle the sale within 12 months of completing Coach to Sell, the Coach to Sell fees you've paid will be credited against your T360P upfront marketing retainer, up to the value of that retainer.

The success fee remains separate.

Preparing versus selling

Preparing to sell isn't the same as putting your business up for sale

Coach to Sell is about getting you and your business better prepared for a future exit.

It does not include marketing the business for sale, approaching buyers, preparing full sale documentation, managing due diligence or negotiating a transaction.

Those things belong to the T360P Sell Side service when you're genuinely ready to go to market.

Coach to Sell also does not replace specialist legal, tax or accounting advice.

Get ready before you need to be ready

If selling the business is somewhere in your future, Coach to Sell gives you the opportunity to start preparing while you've still got time on your side.

You don't need to have decided to sell.

You just need to want a clearer understanding of where you stand and what might be worth working on.
